Job description

Position: Progressive Care NurseĀ 
Location: San Diego, CA

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The Progressive Care Nurse will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing patient status.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and acuity levels.
  3. Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpretation of telemetry data, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition promptly.
  4. Administer and titrate vasoactive medications and other intravenous therapies as ordered by physicians, ensuring patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
  5. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial status, documenting findings accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
  6. Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to promote optimal recovery and wellness.
  7. Assist with procedures and interventions as needed, including but not limited to central line care, ventilator management, and wound care.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and streamline care processes.
  9. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols, safety regulations, and organizational policies.
  10. Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and clinical expertise as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
  2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting, with specific experience in Progressive Care or similar units.
  4. Certification in Progressive Care Nursing (PCCN) preferred.
  5. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on facility policy.
  6. Strong clinical assessment skills, including proficiency in cardiac monitoring and interpretation.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  8. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Commitment to professional development and continuous learning to enhance nursing practice and patient care outcomes.
  10. Proficiency in electronic medical records and computerized documentation systems.
