Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The Progressive Care Nurse will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing patient status.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and acuity levels.
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpretation of telemetry data, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition promptly.
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications and other intravenous therapies as ordered by physicians, ensuring patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial status, documenting findings accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to promote optimal recovery and wellness.
- Assist with procedures and interventions as needed, including but not limited to central line care, ventilator management, and wound care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and streamline care processes.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols, safety regulations, and organizational policies.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and clinical expertise as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting, with specific experience in Progressive Care or similar units.
- Certification in Progressive Care Nursing (PCCN) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on facility policy.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, including proficiency in cardiac monitoring and interpretation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning to enhance nursing practice and patient care outcomes.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and computerized documentation systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods, move heavy equipment, and assist with patient positioning and transfers.
- Manual dexterity to perform nursing procedures and operate medical devices.
- Visual acuity and auditory perception to assess patient condition and respond to alarms or alerts.
