Job Description

General Purpose of Job :


To provide sterile, properly functioning, properly assembled, properly inspected, supplies and equipment throughout the Healthcare System.


Essential Duties :


This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

General Requirements

Work Experience

Education


• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certification in Sterile Processing through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA, formerly known as IAHCSMM) - OR -
• Graduate of an approved Sterile Processing program OR currently enrolled in an approved Sterile Processing program OR 6 months experience at Sparrow as a Distribution Technician ll If currently enrolled in an approved Sterile Processing program, must complete course within 1 year and complete CBSPD or HSPA Certification exam or grandfathered in if hired or transferred before July 1, 2007.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills


• Flexible and Adaptive to change
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to deal with high stress associated with high-volume critical care departments
• Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred
• Knowledge of SPM or TDOC computer based inventory systems
• Previous experience in Sterile Processing
