Position Summary

Performs atmospheric corrosion inspections and cathodic protection monitoring on CPS Energy’s gas system. Atmospheric corrosion inspections include visually inspecting exposed gas piping such as residential and commercial meter sets or regulator stations. Cathodic protection duties include performing cathodic protection voltage reads at test points throughout the gas system. Other duties include assisting Corrosion Control Journeymen in troubleshooting the gas cathodic protection system.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work outdoors with extensive walking

Possess a valid driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations

Ability to read and interpret GIS maps for locations of facilities

Ability to exercise good judgement and follow CPS Energy procedures

Ability to utilize handheld equipment for read and inspection documenting

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling

Working Environment

Work is performed outdoors with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
