ABOUT THIS ROLE: A Delivery Driver with St. Matthew's House is a professional and customer service-oriented position. Duties include the safe operation of St. Matthew's House trucks and equipment. Delivery Drivers are responsible for the loading and unloading of purchased items and ensuring that they remain undamaged and placed in the correct position and location at the customers residence. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate the Mission, Vision and Core Values of St. Matthew's House to the community. We operate in a safety-oriented, faith-based team environment that emphasizes organization, teamwork, compassion, efficiency, and excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Must have a valid Florida Driver's License, have the ability to pass a job demonstration test before starting employment, and must pass a written driving test and road test once employed.
- Must always maintain a high level of customer service, including (but not limited to) safety, courtesy, and positive communication; ensure other team members are doing the same.
- Have the ability to safely handle large box trucks, and be able to maneuver the trucks in and out of tight areas.
- Must be trustworthy, work well in a team environment, and maintain a neat, professional appearance. The ability to work safely and cooperatively in a variety of situations with a variety of customers is essential.
- Delivery Drivers must be able to lift and carry more than 75lbs up and down stairs for extended periods of time.
- Will be required to follow proper moving, packing, loading and all other procedures as trained by Senior Lead Driver or Fleet Manager.
- Must be able to plan the most efficient way to pack items into a truck and deliver to the customer.
- Ensure that items are not damaged while moving by wrapping in protective material and loading, packing and unloading with care.
- Some overtime and holiday work may be required.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1-year trucking, moving, and customer service experience (or related experience) essential.
Travel Demands: Flexibility in work hours; this position requires some overtime.
Confidentiality: Works with confidential information.
Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry more than 75lbs up and down stairs for extended periods of time in all seasons. Must have stamina to perform manual duties that often require strength.
Working Areas: Warehouses, trucks, and Customer sites including businesses and private homes.
