Job Description
As an employee of DeAngelo Contracting Services, you will need to have an eye for detail, a great attitude, strong ethics, the ability to multi-task, and a vast mechanical aptitude, all while using your skills and expertise to uphold our company’s morals and principles, as well as adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The perfect applicant is a highly motivated and seasoned Traveling Heavy Equipment Mechanic that is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of diesel and gas vehicles and equipment, under the direction of the Shop Manager. This person will perform mechanical repairs, maintain diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment, complete inspections, and preventative maintenance requirements by correcting vehicle deficiencies, maintaining proper records of repairs, and practicing shop safety.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to travel, away from home, for at least 4 weeks at a time.
- Prioritize and work on projects needing immediate attention.
- Perform repairs as directed.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
- Assist in fabrication of new equipment/new builds as directed.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls, and systems.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Conducting field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Keep a clean and safe environment.
- Other job duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A technical training course in Mechanics is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving. (Pre-employment MVR background check will be performed.)
- 3+ years of mechanical experience (diesel and gasoline) engine repair.
- 2 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with small hand tools, as well as chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mowers, skid steers and attachments, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
- Understanding of blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.

- Pay rate: $25-$32 DOE
