Reports To: VP of Community Impact (VPCI)

Community: San Mateo County and San Francisco*

Office Location: Redwood City, CA (up to 50% hybrid role of in-person and remote)

Compensation: $100,084/annually or hourly, generous benefits package

Status: Full-time, exempt

Director of San Mateo County- Position Summary 

The County Director is a strategic, collaborative and results-oriented leader with strong evaluative, relational, management, and implementation skills who will lead and manage programs in the county according to FLY’s theory of change. With performance management and organizational leadership skills, the Director of SMC will ensure that program health indicators are closely monitored and programmatic outcomes are accomplished through direct oversight of all San Mateo County and *San Francisco programs, contracts, and supervision of program leaders in the two communities. The Director will work closely with other organizational leaders to create momentum and connectivity that ensures effective program implementation and performance management result in positive outcomes for the young people FLY programs serve. In addition, the Director will serve as a jurisdictional lead for government and other stakeholder relations, representing FLY in systems collaboration efforts.


*FLY recently expanded services into San Francisco County with a light but growing programmatic footprint, for which this position shall provide strategic leadership and supervision.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to equity, social, racial, and economic justice as well as a passion for working with and on behalf of young people, and a strong desire to learn from colleagues and clients. They will have past experience performing effective managerial/leadership roles , an in-depth understanding of the obstacles facing system-impacted youth , and the ability to combine data-driven and human-centered approaches to program design and innovation.
