THE COMPANY

ContiTech, a division of Continental, is one of the world's leading suppliers of technicial elastomer products and is a specialist in plastics technology. ContiTech develops and produces functional parts, components, and systems for machine and plant engineering, mining, the automotive industry, and other important industries. Our Winchester, Virginia location is looking to hire an intern for our Finance & Controlling Department. The assignment would be to work full-time with us for approximately 3 months during the summer of 2024.

Job Description

 

Finance & Controlling Summer Internship Project

The Finance & Accounting Intern will gain exposure in several areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets. They will assist in improving processes and finalizing written instructions on those processes. Gain a working knowledge of the processes within the accounting area and how a month end closing process works. Gain perspective on checks and balances needed to succeed in a Finance position.

Project deliverables:

• Accounts Receivable/Credit Management. General overview
• Accounts Payable: General Overview and help facilitate new processes and finalize written instructions.
• Fixed Assets – Assist in reorganizing the FA Accounting process.
• Project within the Controlling/Finance Area that would be of interest to the interns’ objectives. - TBD

Learning objectives:

• Accounts payable: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, and approval procedures. Learn how to accurately record and classify vendor invoices. Develop skills in reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies.
• Accounts receivable: Understand the importance of monitoring and collecting outstanding receivables and develop skills in reconciling customer accounts. Learn to handle customer inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Fixed assets – Review the current process and assist in developing a new, more efficient process.
• Develop the ability to generate relevant financial information, such as aging reports for receivables and payables, and fixed asset schedules.

These learning objectives aim to provide a well-rounded experience for the intern, covering both the technical aspects of accounting processes and the broader skills required in managing these specific areas effectively.

Qualifications

This is a Full-Time paid internship opportunity working in our Finance & Controlling Department. The hours would be dayshift Monday thru Friday and the positions would be for approximately three months.

Applicants for positions must be currently enrolled as a student in an accredited college or university. Degree preferences for these internships are preferably Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar related field. Applicants must also have a 2.8 GPA. 

Applicants should also be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment and be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
