This entry level Attorney position serves primarily as supporting contract review counsel within the Office of Legal Affairs to assist with mission of the Office of Legal Affairs and to support the Director of Legal Affairs, or their designee, efficiently and effectively in the administration and review of the Hospital’s legal agreements by internally providing professional, timely, and useful legal advice and other services. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work on a variety of matters and cases and gain valuable experience in the legal field. The incumbent shall be a motivated individual who is eager to learn and grow in their legal career.
Duties include assists the Director of Legal Affairs in advising and counseling management regarding various forms of contracts and other agreements, also assists in the formulation and administration of corporate policies involving contract matters, provides counsel regarding various forms of contracts and other agreements including the review of contracts, and assists with the development and delivery of training programs for management staff involving contract matters. The Associate Counsel will also maintain records, calendar, and other data related to the Office of Legal Affairs, communicates with other professional and support staff of the Office of Legal Affairs, works with standing committees and department heads to accomplish objectives of Legal Affairs Department, performs legal research, reviews, prepares contracts, and maintains strict confidentiality of all legal and other matters.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Applicants must be admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York.
• Applicants pending admission upon passing Bar Exam will be considered, but admission to practice within a reasonable time shall be a term and condition of employment.
• Minimum of one (1) year of legal experience before admission, preferably in contract review and administration.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
• Experience working with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Outstanding problem-solving and negotiating skills with a strong detail-orientation.
• Demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to present to individuals at various levels of the organization.
