Manages the GSOC Operations Planning Team that performs operational planning activities supporting the reliable and efficient operation of the GSOC system. Develops near-term and real-time production cost and transmission system models to accurately study the GSOC generation and the Integrated Transmission System in Georgia. Performs transmission and generation assessments of the system for the operations planning horizon (real-time out thirteen months).

Candidate and the operations planning team will be responsible for the development and implementation of processes to perform studies to support the reliable operation of the grid. This includes gathering necessary data from OPC, GTC, scheduling member groups and members, as well as other applicable entities to support GSOC efforts to proactively assess system conditions, improve situational awareness, and to position GSOC for success.

Provides subject matter experts to support System Operations BES compliance requirements for applicable NERC Standards. Works with Project Management Office to supply or manage projects critical to system operations. Coordinates with the Family of Companies and outside entities, as necessary. Perform ad hoc system studies as necessary to support System Operations and to meet Member needs.

Candidate will support various high-level initiatives to develop necessary study processes, provide leadership, direction, and skills development for the operations planning group. Provides high level recommendations and support to GSOC management and executive staff regarding operational matters that affect the Members or the Family of Companies.

Required Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

Experience : Ten years of applicable experience in planning, system operations, system modeling or other related field with a minimum of three years supervisory experience is desired.

Should be knowledgeable in electric system operations, control systems, forecasting, simulation and planning processes.

Specialized Skills : Knowledge of PC applications, applications of "real time" energy control systems for electric utility operations, security constrained economic dispatch, field equipment operation, equipment loading limitations, and protective relay schemes. Requires excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills. Candidate must be capable of preparing and delivering presentations to all levels of management and related industry groups. Must be familiar with complex operations of an electric utility control center. Must be able to respond positively to short lead time, quick turnaround projects and capable of receiving input and direction from multiple sources from both within and external to GSOC and respond in a positive and professional manner. Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with both internal associates, Member systems, vendors, and other utilities while maintaining focus on the goals of the corporation.
