Traffic Design Engineer (NYC / Long Island)
Atlantic TPD, LLC (ATDE) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD).
Atlantic TPD, LLC (ATDE) staff provides expertise on access management, traffic circulation, parking design, ADA-compliance, and transportation related design concepts. Safe and efficient accommodation of the traveling public is instrumental to the success of any development project. ATDE is currently hiring a Traffic Design Engineer for our Melville, NY office.
Our ideal candidate has minimum of 5 years of experience, a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, the willingness to work cohesively within a team, and the ability to work on multiple projects. Additionally, we offer a creative, flexible, supportive and fun environment!
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as work zone traffic, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, DOT access permitting, control plans and traffic signal operations analysis.
- Obtaining, analyzing, and interpreting demographic and other regional transportation planning data.
- Assisting in the preparation or modification of specifications, plans, construction schedules, permits, and designs for projects.
- Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
- Serving as on-site project representative.
- May assist the team with traffic studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in NY or able to obtain within 2 years (not required, but preferred)
- Knowledge of CADD Software (AutoCAD/Civil3D experience preferred)
- Knowledge or familiarity with NYSDOT/NYCDOT/SCDPW/NCDPW design standards, including traffic signal design, signing and striping, ADA compliance, pavement design, work zone traffic control, and/or access permitting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Driver’s License
Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000
