Job Description: Sr. Optical Engineer We are seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to join a team that is working in the development of Mixed Reality Consumer Electronics.
What you will do: Our team develops the light engine (aka projector) for IVAS and other Mixed Reality products. As part of our team, you will:
- Defines and executes all prototype, manufacturing, and testing issues and other tasks necessary to complete and ship a world class product.
- Uses knowledge of user needs to influence product direction and contributes significantly to product specification.
- Work with project managers and developers to help define the spec of the project as it relates to product test cycle.
- Provides leadership to others as needed on projects.
Skills:
- 5+ years work related experience required.
- 5+ years of experience - Procurement, characterization, & alignment of optical components; experience with lab equipment such as mechanical fixtures, function generators, oscilloscopes, and I/O interfaces for automation
- 5+ years of experience - Optical simulations and/or coding for optical algorithms, station development (e.g. Python), and data analysis (e.g. JMP)
Consistent demonstration of superior testing or management techniques required. - Knowledge of optical simulations and one or more programming or scripting languages required.
- Advanced knowledge of both manual and automated testing principles.
- Must have the ability to solve difficult problems.
- Must have demonstrated superior testing and project management skills through production of world class products.
- Demonstrated high level of accountability and personal responsibility leading to the success of projects required
- General optics knowledge, optical simulation experience (e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED), and a mix of hardware and software knowledge (Python, measure & test, station development & calibration, data acquisition), alignment of optics, data analysis
