Electronics Design Engineer
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a mid to senior career level Electronics Design Engineer for a 1–2-year contract opportunity with a manufacturer of automotive systems located in Bay City, MI . Overview
Our client is an R&D automotive environment that fosters a collaborative engineering environment. Our client is growing and has recently created a new department that will focus on commercializing new products that are launched into production.
In this role, you’ll interface with customers, the internal hardware team, suppliers to ensure customer specifications are met as products are released from design to manufacturing. This will include root cause analysis of existing production programs, execute design changes/modifications through the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Test and debug circuit with the aid of customer requirements, schematic, bill of materials, PCB layout artwork, etc.
Capturing customer/supplier requested design changes, interfacing to HW team to determine feasibility
Develop tests (or update if reusing existing tests) to validate requested design changes after approval
Root Cause field issues suspected to link to HW, design tests, work with suppliers
Support calibration (End-Of-Line/Final Function Test stands) and equipment locally and at manufacturing sites
Utilize internal database systems of design documents
Manage component supply issues (finding feasible alternates, managing part availability, managing changes)
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering & 7+ years relevant experience OR a Master degree in Engineering & 4-5+ years
Circuit design
Capability to design and develop Schematics, verification of performance to requirements
Schematic Capture and Circuit Analysis Tools (Cadence preferred but other tools acceptable)
Knowledge of Electrical Hardware and Microprocessor Architecture
Knowledge of Power Electronics, Analog and Digital Circuits
Knowledge of 3 Phase machine operation/analysis
Bench, Test Stand, and Vehicle debug and analysis
Ability to read schematics and PCB layout
Debugging with Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Logic analyzers, etc.
Knowledge of automotive systems
Basic programming skills (C, C++)
Documentation (customer requirements capture and interpretation)
Pluses
Familiarity with motors, sensors and electromagnetics (EMI/EMC)
Familiarity with digital communications protocols (CAN, LIN, SENT, I2C, SPI, etc.)
Knowledge of Customer Specific CAN tools and Requirements (CANalyzer, CANape Preferred)
Knowledge of safety critical 32-bit microprocessors/microcontroller architectures
Knowledge of ISO 26262 Safety Standards and Requirements
IPC 610 Standards Class II and III, and other applicable IPC Standards Preferred
Understanding of Manufacturing control plan and PFMEA, other APQP documentation processes (ex. PPAP)
Understanding of DFMEA
