Job description
Lycoming College is hiring a Public Safety Department Coordinator! This position is responsible for oversight of the department of Public Safety’s communications, procedures, and staffing including the department’s student staff. The Public Safety Department Coordinator is also responsible for fulfilling administrative tasks for the department. They must be exceptionally attuned to the needs and experiences of Lycoming’s diverse community and be adept at supporting and enhancing the campus experience of all those with whom they work through acknowledging unique identify characteristics and lived experiences in order to build confidence and authentic relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

What will I do in this role?- Answer both the department’s primary and emergency phones while properly documenting calls for service in accordance with applicable policies and procedures for functions including assisting students, alarms, and other emergencies.
- Maintain knowledge of College and department policies and procedures to accurately assist individuals with questions.
- Maintain records including logs for visitors, lockouts, fire safety, telephone and radio transmissions, lost & found, trespass and PNG notices as well as vehicle maintenance and mileage.
- Issue keys to employees, students, volunteers, contractors or other card access procedures.
- Process new request for parking permits, process parking fines for payment including tracking violations and traffic / parking issues and concerns.
- Process new and replacement identification cards for students, faculty and staff.
- Update and maintain information in the C-Cure System; provide door access per procedures.
- Complete records within the Advocate system including communication logs, radio/telephone logs and vehicle use log.
- Train all new Public Safety staff in communications duties.
- Prepare and process departmental mail.
- Track department program expenses, coordinate administration forms for various offices, and keep reliable and well-organized record keeping systems.
- Process and reconcile monthly P Card statements.
- Supervise student staff.
- Coordinate communications staffing during holiday breaks and other absences for the communications desk.
- Compile reports as requested such as the Clery annual security report, etc.
What are we looking for? Education and Experience
High school diploma, associate degree or bachelor degree.
Knowledge and Skill Set
- Computer skills essential (Microsoft Products).
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills/communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills to effectively communicate and document reports.
- Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Ability to make quick decisions using sound judgement in emergency situations.
- Ability to carry out verbal / written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to demonstrate professional conduct in highly sensitive or stressful situations.
- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities at all times, specifically in stressful situations.
