Job description

As a key member of our Membership team, the Membership Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of a dynamic program that aims to provide outstanding customer service while increasing museum membership.
The success of the membership program depends heavily on the expertise and experience of the Membership Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for executing tactical decisions related to all aspects of the program, including timely acquisition and renewal campaigns, fulfillment, stewardship events, and donor services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the implementation of renewals, acquisition, and fulfillment for membership. This includes data requests/pulls; review, writing, and design of appeal letters, postcards, etc.; and coordination of out-of-house implementation
- In conjunction with the Senior Director of Membership, develop monthly reports for all segments, end-of-campaign reports, event results, and analyses
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Membership in coordinating data segmentation ladders for acquisition campaigns
- Support donor/member relations activities – answer donor/member queries (phone and email); assist Membership Specialist and Membership Manager with events/programs, conduct behind-the-scenes tours, and ensure events/engagement opportunities coincide
- Research and coordinate new channels of giving (i.e. monthly giving, web giving, and other special giving campaigns) through several platforms such as GiveSmart and ACME ticketing
- Coordinate with the Membership Manager of Operations to assist members, donors, and general guests with their memberships, reservations, and benefits. This also includes assisting Visitor Services with questions about current membership status, uploading correct data, outlier admission questions, and others
- Support our Visitor Services department at POS station on peak attendance days, provide breaks, and any other additional assistance as needed
- Conduct event/program surveys to gauge donor interests/satisfaction of our members and donors
- Manage community donation requests from outside organizations
- Manage interns and volunteers for the team
- Benchmark best practices across peer institutions
Qualifications
- BA or an equivalent level of education and experience is required
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, and Adobe Suite experience is required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and attention to detail is a must
- Must be well-organized, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Must exercise tact and discretion in handling highly confidential information and interacting with Museum donors and prospective donors
- 1-2 years in a cultural institution is preferred with some experience managing interns or volunteers
- Prior fundraising database (Raisers' Edge) experience is desirable
- The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the Museum, fundraising, and event planning
- Must be an energetic and patient team player with a proactive "can do" attitude
