Job description
Position Description: The Chief Editor & Communications Specialist is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation for Chancery marketing strategies, communications, and public relations. With a heart for evangelization, this role ensures all Chancery communications: have consistent branding, adhere to the strategic plan of the Diocese, and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.
Key Tasks:
- Articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
- Understand and promote diocesan communications as a source of evangelization
- Assist in aspects of Chancery communications, including digital, social, and printed
- Plan, develop, and execute a diocesan marketing strategy for Chancery ministries
- Ensure Chancery communications have consistent branding and are mission-oriented
- Ensure Chancery communications promote and adhere to diocesan strategic plans
- Support and advise other Chancery departments in their communication strategies
- Serve as editor of the Eastern Oklahoma Catholic magazine and oversee production
- Facilitate requests for interviews and assist Bishop or other personnel as needed
- Cover liturgies, diocesan events, parish functions, and other human interest stories
- Oversee and update the organization and content of the diocesan Google Drive
- Oversee the strategy and content production of the Eastern Oklahoma Catholic Podcast
- Coordinate with the Chief Development Officer and execute strategy for the Faith & Works Campaign
- Work outside of business hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary
- Review and adhere to the Diocesan Personnel Handbook and all other Chancery policies
- Execute all other duties as assigned
Key Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Superb organizational skills
- An independent self-starter who is able to work well with colleagues
- Proficient in PC or Mac; including Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent copy and photo editing skills
- Knowledge of video and print production procedures
- Editorial photography, both still and video
- Ability to visualize and implement a consistent public image both online and in print

Physical Requirements: Employees should be able to meet the physical and mental demands of all the aforesaid key tasks, skills, and attributes. Such requirements include, but are not limited to, the frequent lifting or moving of up to ten (10) pounds and the occasional lifting or moving of up to twenty-five (25) pounds; frequent sitting and the occasional demands of driving long distances.
