Job description

Overall Role Description: A bartender plays a crucial role in a bar or restaurant, as they are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and preparing and serving beverages as well as knowledge of when to stop serving drinks for customer and public safety.

Additional Notes: This is a general scope of the role specified above. It is not limited to the description in this document. Other duties may present itself as the need for business and shall be conducted accordingly.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Mixing and Serving Drinks:

Preparing and serving a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and soft drinks, according to standard recipes and customers' preferences. Bartenders must possess knowledge of various drink recipes and be skilled in creating visually appealing and tasty drinks.

2. Customer Service:

Providing excellent customer service by greeting patrons, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Bartenders should be friendly, engaging, and able to build rapport with customers to enhance their overall experience.

3. Checking IDs and Enforcing Age Restrictions:

Ensuring that customers meet the legal age requirements for consuming alcoholic beverages and responsibly handling situations when customers may be intoxicated.

4. Maintaining Cleanliness:

Keeping the bar area clean and organized, including washing glassware, restocking supplies, and regularly cleaning bar equipment and surfaces to maintain hygiene and safety standards. Always practicing "Clean as you go".

5. Handling Payments:

Processing payments accurately, including cash, credit cards, or other forms of payment, and providing customers with the correct change and receipts.

6. Upselling and Promotion:

Recommending and upselling special drinks, promotions, or food items to increase sales and enhance the customer's experience.

7. Knowledge of Menu and Products:

Being well-informed about the bar's drink menu, ingredients, and specials, as well as any food offerings. Bartenders should be able to answer questions and make suggestions based on customer preferences.

8. Handling Difficult Situations:

Managing difficult or unruly customers calmly and professionally, adhering to the establishment's policies and procedures for handling such situations.

9. Maintaining Inventory:

Monitoring and managing beverage inventory, restocking supplies as needed, and informing management when items need to be replenished.

10. Responsible Alcohol Service:

Adhering to local alcohol regulations and ensuring responsible alcohol service to prevent overconsumption and promote the safety of patrons.

11. Collaboration with Team Members:

Cooperating with other bar staff, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive working environment.

12. Preparation and Cleaning of Bar Equipment:

Preparing garnishes, mixing ingredients, and cleaning bar tools and equipment, such as blenders, shakers, and ice bins.

13. Opening & Closing Sidework:

After setting up and closing bar refer to the "Task"List in the 7shifts App and check off assigned tasks

14. "Ring and Bring":

Always ringing in the drink before or immediately after taking or making an order.

15. Knowledge of Safety Regulations:

Understanding and adhering to safety and health regulations to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.

16. Handling Cash Register:

Operating the cash register or point-of-sale system accurately to record transactions and manage tabs.

Overall, bartenders play a crucial role in creating an enjoyable and hospitable atmosphere for customers, making sure they have a memorable experience while abiding by all legal and safety requirements.
