Job description
The CDL Class A Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting rental equipment to customers and job sites both locally and out-of-town. The Truck Driver should be able to perform all duties of delivering rental equipment in all weather conditions, regardless of the time of day and within the confines of the law. Prior training and/or experience with similar commercial equipment, experience driving flat-beds, RGN/lowboy, dovetail trailers, is preferred. The CDL Class A Truck Driver is heavy haul driver position responsible for transporting a wide variety of oversized equipment.
Responsibilities: - Fully understand how to operate and safely drive assigned delivery vehicle
- Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
- Transport equipment from the place of origin to assigned destination
- Ensure contents are properly secured on the truck to prevent breakage or damage
- Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations
- Perform inspections of vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply DOT regulations, observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations
- Any other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications: - Valid Class A CDL & Driver's license
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Skilled at driving large vehicles
- Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
- Physically and mentally fit
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
- Able to operate forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass a DOT physical. The physical demands of the role require bending, squatting, crouching reaching, and working indoors/outdoors in all types of weather when required by the job. Must be able to climb on and off tractor several times per day. Must be able to sit for long periods, navigate stairs to loading docks, and hear, see, and speak sufficiently to convey information to customers and DOT officials. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment.
