Job description
Our client is seeking a dynamic Safety Director to join their organization. As a key player in the steel production sector, this role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Safety Director to drive impactful safety programs and initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a Safety First culture across all entities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaboration and Leadership:
Collaborate with management and extended leadership teams at each facility to develop and implement robust safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrate a passion for developing, educating, and leading a Safety First mentality.
Risk Assessment and Incident Prevention:
Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend best practice initiatives.
Investigate workplace incidents to prevent future occurrences and recommend corrective actions.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure each facility maintains OSHA safety logs and adheres to administrative requirements related to safety operations and regulations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, and codes across all facilities.
Oversee completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
Procedure Development and Training:
Develop health and safety procedures and training programs for all facilities.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Provide management guidance on safety-related issues and strategies.
Industry Knowledge:
Stay abreast of industry trends and updates in safety regulations.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
5-7 years of experience in safety leadership roles with a proven track record of implementing safety programs.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or OSHA Certified are preferred.
Manufacturing experience required.
Extensive knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessments, industry best practices, and OSHA standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey safety policies and procedures effectively.
Ability to analyze data, conduct investigations, and identify areas for safety improvement.
Proven ability to drive a Safety First culture and influence positive change within the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills to address safety challenges and implement effective solutions.
Ability to work with multi-facilities (20 locations) and collaborate with various departments and teams.
Flexibility to adapt to changes in safety regulations and industry standards.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness and ability to travel to all client facilities in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Pay Details: $160,000.00 to $200,000.00 per year Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
