Attention all experienced Veterinarians! A growing animal practice in San Mateo is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Critical Care Veterinarian to join their dynamic team. Key Duties - Providing immediate medical attention to critically ill or injured animals
- Examining, diagnosing, and treating animals with a variety of emergency medical conditions, including trauma, respiratory distress, and shock
- Performing advanced medical procedures, such as mechanical ventilation, blood transfusions, and fluid therapy
- Monitoring and maintaining the vital signs of critically ill animals, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygenation
- Collaborating with other veterinary professionals and support staff to provide comprehensive, coordinated care to all patients
- Staying current on advances in veterinary critical care, attending continuing education courses, and participating in professional organizations
- Maintaining a clean and well-stocked critical care unit, ensuring the safety and well-being of all patients, staff, and clients

Key Skills, Qualifications & Client Requirements
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Board certification or eligibility for certification in emergency and critical care by a veterinary specialty organization
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and surgery
- Advanced training and expertise in critical care medicine
- Ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical emergencies, including trauma, respiratory distress, and shock
- Physical dexterity and manual dexterity, including the ability to lift and restrain large animals
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as emergency veterinary services are typically needed outside of normal business hours
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients, clients, and colleagues
