Position: Strategic Communications Advisor

**Location:** Washington, D.C. (Remote Eligible)

**Background:** The U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Center for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) plays a crucial role in promoting democracy, human rights, and governance worldwide.

Strategic communication is paramount for fostering good governance, especially in countries undergoing democratic transitions and facing various challenges. Effective communication between citizens and governments is essential for building trust and promoting transparency. However, many governments lack the necessary infrastructure and capacity for strategic communication.

Role Overview:

As a Strategic Communications Advisor, you will lead efforts to enhance strategic communication capabilities among USAID's partner countries, particularly through the Democracy Delivers Initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with teams at Post to identify communication gaps and challenges within partner governments.
- Engage with Agency communications staff to provide support and amplify progress on Democracy Delivers.
- Serve as an Activity Manager for dedicated funding related to strategic communications.
- Offer direct support to partner governments as needed.
- Coordinate a learning agenda in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Foster partnerships with private sector entities, foundations, and other donors to garner additional support.
- Manage existing relationships and explore new opportunities to advance strategic communications efforts.
- Provide guidance on utilizing polling data to inform governments and USAID.
- Coordinate with various teams within USAID and other stakeholders in the media and communications space.
- Draft communication materials for Democracy Delivers Initiatives, including press releases and social media content, in collaboration with USAID's Public Affairs team.
