Job Summary



The Investigator represents and performs investigative and complaint resolution duties of the Office of the Foster Youth Ombudsperson (OOFY) in an assigned jurisdiction. The incumbent receives, processes, investigates, resolves, and reports on individual complaints. The incumbent will also investigate systemic issues and foster care policy analysis, research, reporting, and recommendations. The incumbent exercises discretion in applying the policies, mission, vision, and values of the OOFY to cases, and in building and maintaining positive relationships with OOFY stakeholders. The incumbent will have access to various residential settings of foster youth, including family foster care homes, group homes, and institutional settings, and access to sensitive data under the delegated statutory authority of the Ombudsperson.

The incumbent may spend up to 30% of their time travelling throughout their assigned jurisdiction to fulfill the responsibilities outlined herein and will need to travel to the OOFY office in St. Paul on a quarterly basis or as otherwise agreed upon with the Ombudsperson.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience conducting investigations or working on case development of civil, criminal, or administrative matters within a legal, law enforcement, corrections, human resources, or child protection service setting.
