About the Role

The Laboratory Intern is responsible for conducting testing procedures, interpreting results and providing recommendations based on the needs of the Advanced Development and Innovation (ADI) Test Lab. Major duties include technical and testing support for the organization's R&D efforts in addition to process, material and testing support for the Divisions and outside customers.

Your Responsibilities
• Provide competent analysis of customer material and process problems in a timely manner.
• Review test procedures to ensure compliance with ISO/ASTM specifications, etc.
• Execute assigned laboratory tasks.
• Compile test reports on time and with accuracy based on performed work and provide recommendations based on results.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity.
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace.
• Adhere to applicable quality system processes/procedures.
• Develop and maintain testing expertise as required. Read and follow instructions listed in specifications.
• Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct.
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards.
• Support the needs of the ADI Center as required.

Your preferred qualifications

Education - Currently seeking an advanced degree in chemistry, engineering, chemical engineering or other degree in a related field.
• With proper training, write technical reports and provide updates to customers upon request.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills along with a strong sense of time management and problem solving abilities.
• Highly motivated, experienced in working with a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and integrity in all aspects of the job.
• Customer-focused, team player with ability to interact effectively with all employee levels in positive, cooperative, and productive manner.
• Able to exercise initiative, common sense and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
