Job Summary: The Director of Employer Relations serves as a liaison between industry, faculty and students, the University Career Services Department and alumni. The Director of Employer Relations cultivates relationships with new and existing employers and connects them with faculty and students. The overall performance standard for this position is a measurable increase in experiential learning and job opportunities and connections for St. John's students.
The St. John's University Career Services team strives to ensure equitable access to career resources for all students and alumni as they work towards meaningful and satisfying careers.

The ideal candidate will cultivate productive relationships with faculty and utilize technology and on-demand resources as well as next destination data and marketing analytics to advance students' opportunities and pathways to career.
The Director will support the overall effectiveness of the Career Services department and the Division of Student Success.
St. John's values your work/life balance and offers this full-time opportunity with potential for partial remote work after six months of employment. (Typically in office 4-5 days per week during the semester with increased flexibility on breaks and during the summer.)
Essential Functions: Employer Outreach and Constituent Network Development: - Assist Assistant Vice President, Sr. Director of Employer Relations, and other University administrators in setting Employment Development Plans.
- According to priorities set out in the employment development plans: generate interest, develop and maintain relationships with employers from the private, public, and non-profit sectors for campus recruiting, internships, posting positions, panels, special programs, etc.
- Collaborate with other units, including but not limited to, academic deans, Institutional Advancement, Athletics Department, and Alumni Relations to maintain and enrich existing relationships and develop new partnerships for potential internship and job opportunities.
- Perform extensive external outreach to organizations to enhance pre-and post-graduate opportunities for students, including designing an outreach strategy and assistance with creation of marketing collateral and materials needed to expand the recruiting program.
- Acquire and maintain an intimate knowledge of academic programs and pedagogy.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on execution of advanced career development workshops, events and opportunities for students.
- Leverage alumni base in support of expanded internship and career opportunities for students.
- Utilize technology to meet student and employer needs in recruitment and placement.
- Represent the office in a variety of University, community, and other networking events.
- Collaborate with other members of Employer Relations and central leadership team to fully leverage employer relationships for the benefit of the institution.
- Remain informed of national, state, and local hiring practices, guidelines, and labor related issues.
- Foster a productive and inclusive environment that encourages student enrollment, retention, persistence, and positive outcomes.
- Support the mission and strategic priorities of the University.
Data Management: - Assist with designing and presenting career-outcome based special reports/projects necessary for accreditation institutional reporting needs upon request.
- Assist with management of the employment statistics process, which may include collecting, verifying, and reporting statistics and data internally or for external purposes.
Competencies - Must be collaborative, self-directed, outcome oriented, and able and willing to work under pressure with frequent interruptions. Must have strong customer service focus for internal and external constituents and been successful in working both independently and in cross-functional teams.

Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is full-time, and the expected hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position occasionally requires extended hours and weekend work.
Travel Some local travel required.
Required Education and Experience: - Master's degree preferred, Bachelor degree required.
- Minimum of seven years of experience in corporate recruiting/business development, company recruiting, corporate relations, or senior human resources required. Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships, able to interact with high level executives.
- Related industry/role experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build a network of employers or clients in a results-driven environment.
- Must have familiarity of employment and industry trends, coupled with business acumen and a passion for learning new businesses.
- Proficiency with Office 365 and familiarity with CRM technology required.
- Familiarity with higher education and on-campus recruitment preferred.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual/hourly salary range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
