Salary Range: $57,148.56 - $73,455.84
The Michigan Supreme Court is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Management Assistant, reporting to the Human Resources Director. This position provides administrative, analytical, and technical support to the Human Resource (HR) division and serves as the first point of contact for HR and Payroll. Perform specialized duties for the division and directly assist the Human Resources Director, including general management of the office, team leadership on certain staff projects.
- Serve as primary contact for the HR division and Payroll functions.
- Handle difficult phone calls, requests, inquiries and complaints and exercise discretion in referring to appropriate staff for response.
- Screen incoming documents and draft correspondence where standard procedures and past practice provide guidance, but where a thorough knowledge of human resource practices is required.
- Assist payroll administrators with processing payroll for employees and trial court Judges, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Draft, format and proof various types of documents; i.e., correspondence, charts, reports, graphs, and spreadsheets.
- Develop and prepare forms, reports and manuals requiring knowledge of human resource procedures, which may include extracting and summarizing information from several sources.
- Gather information from various resources, analyze and prepare summary reports, summarize findings, and make recommendations. Track projects using project tracking tool.
- Develop, update, and improve human resource website and internal portal sites to highlight information and improve user experience.
- Monitor incoming human resource and payroll e-mail and main lines.
- Distribute weekly and special e-mail to the courts.
- Schedule and coordinate human resources calendar of activities.
- Support HR and Finance Director with travel arrangements.
- Maintain HR and Finance central office files and informational databases and assist with records management. Extract data and generate reports.
- Attend meetings as assigned by the HR or Finance director. Prepare minutes and follow up on items that require further action.
EDUCATION: High school education and specialized training such as that acquired in the first year of college, technical, or business school in word processing, writing skills, office management, and related areas.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years in a progressively more responsible support staff position using HRIS and payroll systems. Candidates must possess a keen eye for detail.
PREFERRED: Advanced experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Experience handling various HR and payroll processes with accuracy.
KNOWLEDGE:
- HR policies and practices.
- Proficient with payroll management systems, human resource information systems (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Proficiency in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
- Web development software, such as SharePoint.
ABILITY:
- Communicate effectively with varied audiences.
- Write, edit and proof documents.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.
- Design, enhance and maintain web pages.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
WORK LOCATION: Official work-site location is the Hall of Justice. Remote work may be available in accordance with the MSC/SCAO Remote Work Policy.
