POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Education Manager oversees the educational experiences of adult members within our council and provides the highest level of customer service to all constituencies. S/he strengthens GSOFCT by providing educational engagement for Girl Scout families & volunteers. S/he works collaboratively with other staff and council volunteers to provide these experiences. This includes the scheduling of in-person and online educational experiences, assessment of educational needs and program effectiveness, maintaining training records, managing the gsLearn platform, and assisting with the Volunteer Development Conference and Recognitions Ceremony.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Educational Responsibilities
- Ensures that Girl Scouts volunteer in-person/virtual learning opportunities are consistently carried out statewide, based on current trends that meet standards set by GSUSA and GSOFCT.
- Assess the effectiveness of our educational modules.
- Oversees the recruitment and management of volunteer trainers to support educational needs statewide.
- Verifies prerequisites, maintains course inventory management & course records, & training resources such as First Aid/CPR and outdoor training supplies.
- Collaborates with other Council staff & volunteers to create concurrent adult and girl member educational experiences.
- Collaborates with Membership Experience and other departments in their support of volunteers, providing resources to meet identified needs.
gsLearn (Virtual Training Opportunities):
- Ensures departmental e-learning trainings and associated resources are developed to fulfill the needs of volunteers and staff related to GSUSA and GSOFCT programs, processes, and materials.
- Serves as liaison to GSUSA as the GSOFCT administrator of the gsLearn platform.
- Ensures the timely creation of reports of training progress and completion as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists in providing the logistics, creation of educational programming and preparing all awards for the annual Adult Development Conference and Recognition event for GSOFCT.
- Works with Communications and Marketing to highlight Volunteers' accomplishments.
- Understands use of and is able to support our members by using all of GSOFCT's technology and platforms.
- Creates, manages, and closes cases within GSOFCT's established guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with volunteers and girls
- Experience in curriculum development and implementation
- Demonstrated written and oral communication excellence.
- Self-motivated and able to create and carry out a vision/plan.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong written editing capability in order to keep resources updated and current.
- Demonstrate knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Girl Scout program, principles, and standards.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS and PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Become a registered member and maintain membership in GSUSA
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required by position responsibilities.
- State-wide travel required.
- Valid Connecticut driver's license
- Must show proof of liability coverage of personal vehicle.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Actively participate in and support Product Sales initiatives.
- Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite, and learning other systems.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - May include a general office setting/cubicle in close proximity of other staff.
- May include work from home remote work.
- May include work at GSOFCT properties.
