About the Position:

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Property and Evidence Technician (Administrative Support Coordinator I). The Division of Administration and Finance provides services and support to over 45,000 diverse students, faculty, and staff at Cal State Fullerton. It is the mission of the Division to provide customer-focused support and steward our physical and financial resources in order to fulfill the university's mission to support student success. As part of the Division, the Cal State Fullerton Police Department (CSUF PD) partners with students, staff, and faculty to support a safe, inclusive and welcoming university for all Titans to thrive.

Under the direction of the Police Records/Property and Evidence Supervisor, the Property and Evidence Technician is an integral member of the police department's team. As a team member of Cal State Fullerton Police Department (CSUF PD), the Property and Evidence Technician shall support efforts to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are intentionally incorporated into department operations, programs, services and culture. The Property and Evidence Technician shall represent Cal State Fullerton Police Department and Cal State Fullerton by providing exceptional customer service while supporting the safety needs of the campus community.

This position works independently on specialized operational protocols and responsibilities of the Property/Evidence and Records Unit within the police department. The Property and Evidence Technician applies a wide range of technical and analytical duties associated with the storing, handling, auditing, maintaining chain of custody, purging, and cataloging of police evidence and property that department personnel have obtained and processed. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation requirements, as well as CSU, CSUF, state and federal policies. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of police property and evidence and records policies and procedures.

Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year university, Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Property and Evidence Management Certificate.

Handling of narcotics, weapons, biological, and biohazard items daily. Ability to lift, drag, push, and carry a minimum of 25 lbs. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. Work requires viewing of computer screens, videos, and photo data for extended periods.
