N4 Solutions, LLC is seeking a Scientific Policy Analyst to support our NIH contract. This position is contingent upon passing a government suitability test.
Roles & Responsibilities: - Provide health-related research support to the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD).
- Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Planning, Legislation and Scientific Policy (OSPLSP) and other NIMHD staff on strategic planning, implementation and monitoring, and scientific reporting and policy development pertaining to health disparities among the underrepresented population while identifying scientific gaps and opportunities.
- Contribute to scientific activities for assessing minority health and health disparities research, including coding NIMHD’s funded research, and reviewing and coding biomedical and behavioral interventions for inclusion in a publicly accessed database.
- Synthesize information, write, and edit scientific documents and prepare PowerPoint presentations for multiple audiences to include scientists, policymakers, and the lay public.
- Collaborate with the Office of Science Policy, Planning, Evaluation, and Reporting (OSPPER) and other NIMHD staff on strategic planning, implementation and monitoring scientific reporting and policy development.
- Review and interpret scientific research literature, information, and content and evaluate the merit or scientific value of research associated with health disparities with minority or underrepresented populations.
- Write scientific narratives in response to congressional questions and requested reports, policy analysis and concept development management.
- Collects, analyzes, and assimilates data to provide a rational basis for research, health, and social policy and program decisions relating to ethical, legal, and social implications.
- Advises management about public policy issues and provides recommendations for appropriate action.
- Attends various staff and scientific meetings providing reports as requested.
- Provides expert guidance to management about public policy issues and provides recommendations for appropriate action.
- Coordinates the daily workload of junior staff.
- Plans and presents at meetings regarding current and new initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications: - Master’s degree in public health or related disciplines.
- 3-5 years of experience conducting intramural or extramural research or studies involving health disparities.
- Demonstrated ability to justify and recommend health-related research funding and activities using scientific-based benefit for recommendations.
- Ability to multi-task while managing changing priorities.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills and capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and individually.
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Qualifications: - Ph.D. in public health or a related discipline.
- 5-7 years of related experience is required.
- Familiarity with NIH Data Systems (e.g., QVR, isearch) to conduct data analyses for identifying funding patterns, scientific gaps and opportunities, and program evaluations.
- Analytics and bioinformatic experiences are pluses.
