Job Title: Communications Man A

Job Summary
Install, maintain and repair communications equipment and electronic control systems.
Successful bidders eligible for the position will take a Communications Man Entry test. The position will then be offered in order of seniority to those who pass the test. Successful bidder would start as a class C and would be provided study material for the class B and class A tests.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Install, maintain and repair mobile radio, base station and carrier current telephone equipment.
Install, maintain and repair remote indication, read-out and control equipment.
Modify and connect communications and control equipment for use in Company operations.
Operate all electronic test apparatus, perform electronic circuit tracing, stage gain measurements, frequency calibration and signal analysis.
Check and retune line tuning equipment and line wave traps.
Take reasonable care of Company tools and equipment that are assigned to him during working hours.
Keep assigned equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
Direct and instruct employees assigned to work with him.
Assist in the training of other employees.
Perform similar or less skilled work in this classification or, when the diversity of work load requires, perform similar or less skilled work in equal or lower classifications.
Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
Complete any reports and forms used in connection with the performance of duties.
Required Qualifications for Position
Meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications; have the qualifications of Communications Man, Class B, and meet the following qualifications:
Two (2) years experience as Communications Man, Class B, or the equivalent.
Have satisfactorily performed the duties of Communications Man, Class B or the equivalent.
Have a thorough working knowledge of drawings, schematic diagrams, and instruction manuals pertaining to the work.
Have a thorough working knowledge of the principle of operation of radio, carrier current and remote indication and control equipment.
Have a working knowledge of electronic circuit tracing, signal analysis and electron tube characteristics.
Have a working knowledge of solid state circuit components and their characteristics.
Have a working knowledge of solid state circuitry, testing procedures and repair methods.
Have a working knowledge of encoding and decoding techniques and devices.
