Job description
The Los Altos Town Crier seeks a full-time reporter and editor to cover local schools, government and other community-related news in the cities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View. You will take photos, use social media and manage a few special sections/magazines. Two years of newsroom experience is required, either with an online or print publication. Command of AP style and familiarity with InDesign/layout are essential. Candidates who live locally or have ties to the Bay Area are preferred. Salary is competitive and negotiable.
The Town Crier is an independent print and online newspaper publishing since 1947, and its newsroom offers the opportunity to work collaboratively across roles and sections and develop your own passions as a subject specialist over time. Reporters work on a flexible hybrid model combining in-person office collaboration, interviews/photos in the field and "work from anywhere" writing and publishing. As a member of the editorial staff, you'll have direct public service impact with opportunities to contribute to Health, Business, Sports, Food and Home sections based on interest.
