Job Overview:
As an Inpatient Medical Coding Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in reviewing multidisciplinary inpatient medical records and health information. Your responsibilities will include classifying patient diagnoses and procedures using accurate ICD-10-PCS codes and DRGs.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate documentation of patient care to code and abstract data for statistics, state reporting, reimbursement, and other needs.
Assign ICD-10-CM codes to inpatient diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to coding guidelines.
Maintain coding accuracy within work standards and uphold productivity and quality standards.
Collaborate with physicians, medical staff, and care professionals to clarify documentation for accurate code assignment.
Prepare workload reports, participate in department management studies, and conduct data quality reviews.
Keep abreast of coding and DRG assignment changes by reviewing federal publications and other reference materials.
Qualifications:
Required:

Completed medical coding education program with an emphasis on inpatient coding
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
Preferred:

RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC-H credentials
Experience in ICD-10-CM diagnosis, procedure coding, and DRG validation
One or more years of experience with inpatient hospital medical records coding
