The Northside Hospital Patient Relations Representative is responsible for maintaining direct contact with patients, families and visitors of all ages to provide assistance, support and a mechanism for grievances. The Patient Relations Representative must be able to maintain professionalism at all times, especially during difficult situations. This position requires the ability to demonstrate empathy, as well as exceptional listening, oral and written communication skills. Experience in an advocacy, public relations or a social services occupation has proven most helpful for success in this role. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy in all communications, both oral and written. 

Shift times will vary between days and evenings as well as weekdays and weekends. The patient relations deptartment is open from 8a-10p. 

REQUIRED

 

1. Two (2) years experience in an occupation requiring advocacy, public relations customer service or medical setting, OR and Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Business Administration, Health Administration, Education or related field
2. Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in utilization of computer application and knowledge of word-processing programs (specifically, Microsoft Word
4. and Microsoft Excel)
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
6. Demonstrated problem-solving skills
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
8. Ability to type 30 - 40 words per minute
9. High School diploma

 

PREFERRED

 

1. Higher education degree – Associates, Bachelors or Masters Degree in Social Science, Business Administration, Health Administration, Education or related field
2. Functional knowledge of McKesson STAR registration system
3. Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
