Join our Global Technical Sourcing team as the Technical Sourcing Program Manager to support New Product Development R&D projects at our Tempe, Arizona campus.

A Day in the Life

Technical Sourcing is the primary integration point linking Global Supply Management ( GSM ) with Technology and New Product Development ( NPD ) Project Teams aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps. The purpose of GTS is to accelerate innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage.

Technical Sourcing will engage with Consistent Processes as a GSM Project Management function to lead the Reduction of Overall Supply Risk and drive the adoption of Capable Technologies & Sources in New Product Development resulting in Predictable Supply & Competitiveness through full Product Launch. TS is responsible for the timely execution of all TS project deliverables in the Product Development Process ( PDP ).

In this exciting role, you will manage Supplier interactions with NPD & Technology by:

+ Knowing and communicating sourcing risks early in the development cycle to drive mitigating designs and/or focused Supplier Development.

+ Driving Supplier Identification, Evaluation, Selection, Development, Qualification, and Product Launch Ramp-up in line with Category and Product Development Strategies.

+ Identifying potential new sources in Technologies where Category Strategies do not yet exist.

+ Documenting & managing overall NPD Project Sourcing Strategies:

+ Track and manage improvements in procured component Supply Risk, Quality, Material Cost, and Response / Lead Time for the full Device procured Bill of Material, (for both new and legacy components).

+ Report out at each progressive Development Phase.

+ Launch Readiness and Transfer to Operations.

+ Lead Component Sourcing Responsibility Transfers post qualification, (to high volume facilities and operations – transition from Technical Sourcing to local Site Sourcing, and Category Management.

+ Manage and coordinate all Sourcing Project Deliverables in support of Product Development.

You will:

+ Track and manage improvements in procured component supply risk, quality, material cost, and response/lead time for the full device procured bill of material, (for both new and legacy components) in NPD .

+ Complete source selection with Category Teams in alignment with Category Strategies and preferred supplier segmentation, and identify potential new sources in technologies where category strategies do not yet exist.

+ Monitor overall component quality levels for projects.Supplier Quality Engineering and TS will provide an early voice to influence specification and supplier development.

+ Provide front-line negotiation with knowledge of category strategies and an ability to influence design/technology/source decisions.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant sourcing experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant sourcing experience

Nice to Have

+ Experience with Micro-electronics and the industry’s suppliers and trends

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, (e.g. STEM ).

+ General Manufacturing Process knowledge and experience.

+ PMI Certified.

+ Project management experience

+ Proven communication, leadership, and interpersonal and team-building skills

+ Influence skills to achieve results across a matrixed organization

+ Ability to manage multiple technologies and priority changes while consistently meeting customer needs

+ Broad technical knowledge/background

+ Negotiation skills

+ Lean and Six Sigma experience

+ Design for Reliability & Manufacturability Experience

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply to others).
