Robotic Controls Engineer Job Objective The Robotic Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, and integration of complex control systems. Additionally, the Robotic Controls Engineer will provide setup and startup of hardware and software for the PLC of Robotic Hardware and Software. This is a Full Time, Exempt position reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager.
Robotic Controls Engineer Job Duties and Responsibilities - System monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting Robotic System problems at customer sites.
- Focus on configuration, programming, and debugging of Robotic System Control and Balance algorithms, such as custom pick/place routines, motion profiles, robot resource balancing, target balancing, interfacing with upstream/downstream equipment, etc.…
- Modify existing programs to meet customer requirements.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Lead Engineers and Field Service during system commissioning onsite and startup at customer facilities as needed.
- Provide technical support in developing and improving processes with a focus on documentation.
- Set up and Run Robotic System Simulations as needed by Lead Engineers and Application Engineering and then Analyze system performance results and Report findings.
- Assist with conceptual system layout and robotic strategies for new application quoting.
- Setup, Document and Perform Unit tests using Simulation and Real Hardware as part of the Software Release process to reduce the number of bugs in Software Releases and improve Software Quality.
- Investigate and Implement software configuration tools useful to Lead Engineers and Service to speed up system configuration, debug, etc.…
- Assist Lead Engineers and Service with Vision programming/debugging when required.
- Generate training materials for Simulation and Robotic Systems for Lead Engineers and Service and lead training sessions.
- Performs other duties as required.
Robotic Controls Engineer, Skills, and Abilities - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
- 5 or more years’ experience in programming required.
- Proficiency with B&R Structured Text.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
- Experience reading electrical control schematics.
- Experience in machine vision in an industrial setting.
- Have a firm understanding of Robotic Suction Cup and Mechanical End of Arm tools.
- Knowledge of Servo motion control
- Extensive Knowledge of Robot motion control
- Ability to generate problem solutions, serve as an advisor, develop operating procedures, and influence other employees’ work to some extent.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
