Dept: Anesthesia
Hours per pay period: 80 Schedule :11:00 am to 7:30 pm
Position Summary: The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for assisting members of the Anesthesia department by performing specific procedures required to ready the patient for surgery. Responsible for the care and preparation of anesthesia equipment/supplies according to the established procedure.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: - Turn-over of operating rooms:
- Between each case in the operating room the Anesthesia Technician will discard disposable anesthesia equipment appropriately and replace used non-disposable anesthesia equipment with like equipment.
- Between each case the anesthesia equipment will be assessed for cleanliness and, if necessary, the equipment, cart and monitors will be wiped down with appropriate anti-bacterial solution.
- Between each case, the anesthesia carts will be restocked and on an as-needed basis.
- Facilitate the flow of the operating rooms and procedures where anesthesia is involved whether in or out of the operating room suite.
- Ordering, from the warehouse or by special order, and stocking of workroom supplies.
- Maintain a neat and organized workroom which will always be in a "stat" or "ready" status as the needs of the Anesthesia department are dictated by those of the Operating Room or anywhere else on campus where anesthesia may be involved.
Required:
- HighSchool Diploma or GED
- Oneyear of prior work experience in a Hospital work environment
- BLScard from AHA required before start date (valid at least 60 days beyond startdate)
Preferred:
- Certificationthrough the American Association of Nurse Anesthesia Technicians or within 6 mos. of hire date
