ResourceOne is currently looking for a Prepress Technician to join our Prepress Team!

Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 3-11pm

Job Summary:

The Prepress Technician, under the direction of the Prepress Manager, is responsible for producing high quality offset plates, proofs, and digital, utilizing advanced and complex techniques.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determine correct file format for customer supplied hard copy and artwork.
• Determine proper scan resolution, file size, color mode, image size and file format.
• Ensure correct file placement in customer documentation.
• Troubleshoot
• Perform advanced computer functions, using more complex computer software to general films. Software includes: , Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Expose high quality offset printing plates for the press. Expose and compile finished proofs for customer approval; provide proofs for press checks.
• Maintain equipment in Prepress.
• Mounting of flat plates and continuous print sleeves
• Perform visual inspection of and screening plate components for defects
• Reading and interpreting production schedule as well as departmental schedules
• Stripping and general processing of plate components
• Troubleshooting print issues relating to plates, sleeves, and inks
• Production of printing ink
• All duties that may be assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Mechanical inclination
• Attention to detail
• Basic math skills
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately
• Ability to obtain accurate geometric measurements with a variety of instruments.
• Computer skills
• Working knowledge of the Macintosh and Windows operating systems. Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and MS Office. Knowledge of Heidelberg Prinect and EFI Fiery software a plus.
• Working knowledge of font handling and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of digital workflow and trapping.
• Working knowledge of bindery and press specifications and mail specifications (drill allowance, margins, bleeds etc.). Working knowledge of PDF creation.
• Understanding of printing process.

• In-depth knowledge of the industry
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience:

• A High School graduate or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience or education in Graphic Arts preferred
• 1-2 years' experience with Adobe Photoshop, graphic design, and Adobe Illustrator desired

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Required to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach and move about the facility
• Required to grip twist and turn both hands for long periods of time
