Job description

Michael Schulson is the chef and restaurateur behind the Schulson Collective restaurant group whose imagination and vision have made him one of Philadelphia’s most successful hospitality professionals. Schulson is the owner of destination Double Knot, along with DK Sushi, the fine-casual sushi concept located at the University of Pennsylvania; the expansive Independence Beer Garden; Sampan and the adjacent Graffiti Bar; and serves as chef-partner at Izakaya at Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, N.J.. Schulson Collective’s portfolio also includes the new-American spot, Harp & Crown, in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, as well as contemporary izakaya restaurant, Monkitail, and cocktail lounge, Nokku, at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida. Schulson opened his red gravy Italian restaurant, Giuseppe & Sons, and his boutique steakhouse, Alpen Rose, and intimate Italian restaurant, Via Locusta. Schulson’s most recent openings include Prunella, a casual yet energetic pizzeria and Pearl & Mary, a stunning oyster bar.

  1. Responsible for prompt, efficient and courteous service of food & beverage to restaurant guests.
  2. Responsible for identifying allergies and dietary restrictions for all guests.
  3. Takes and enters all orders and ensures prompt delivery and explanation of ordered items.
  4. Explains in detail food & beverage menu items, making recommendations based upon guest preference.
  5. Works as a team with other Servers, Bartenders and support staff to ensure Schulson Collective steps of service are met at all times.
  6. Notifies Managers of any delays, complaints or other potential negative impressions.
  7. Creates memorable experience to build repeat business. Inform guests of other Schulson Collective restaurants.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally push and/or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee will spend over 4 hours daily standing or walking.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma preferred.
  2. Minimum one (1) to two (2) years prior experience in high volume, fine-casual or fine-dining environments.
  3. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Must be a team player with a strong work ethic.
  5. Exceptional hospitality/guest relations.
  6. Prior knowledge/use of Toast or similar POS is preferred.
  7. Strong knowledge of current industry trends including classic cookery, wine, beer and cocktails.
