Job description

The Surveillance Training Supervisor is responsible for conveying knowledge and skills to Surveillance Team Members via training programs and training aids. The Training Supervisor will conduct a learning curriculum through various training techniques, create a positive learning environment, communicate objectives clearly, and encourage and motivate trainees. This position also collaborates with the Surveillance management team to ensure training materials are applicable and up to date with the most current policies and procedures. The Surveillance Training Supervisor will also assist the Director of Surveillance and Surveillance Manager with the day-to-day operations of the department. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. 

1. Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s “Winning Attitude” company-wide culture and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.
2. Present training material using appropriate programs including, but not limited to classroom learning, demonstrations, one-on-one coaching, and online learning.

3. Schedule training sessions with team members that minimize disruption to normal work, while ensuring that team members achieve the levels of skill necessary for their jobs. Assess trainees’ understanding and progress.
4. Collaborate with shift supervisors, building an effective training program tailored to the specific team members’ skills.
5. Prepare hard copies and digital teaching aids such as study guides, online learning tools, visual aids, training handbooks, computer tutorials, and presentations.
6. Track and upload all team members completed course content into the training software program.
7. Maintain awareness of new and evolving techniques in corporate training.
8. Protect the assets of the company via the monitoring and observation of all Thunder Valley Casino Resort day to day operations for all departments.

9. Ensure compliance with NIGC and Tribal State Regulations, along with company and departmental policy and procedures.
10. Manage day-to-day activities of Surveillance Agents, making necessary scheduling adjustments to ensure required staffing levels are maintained for effective casino and hotel operations.
11. Provide guidance to agents monitoring hotel, gaming, and operations areas to ensure procedural compliance and safety and security of Guests and Team Members.
12. Compile and review reports and data files used as evidence for prosecution of suspected criminal activity.
13. Operate all surveillance CCTV and related equipment, and if necessary, conduct floor observations to detect any violations of law, policies, and procedures.
14. Cooperate with other departments and other Team Members involved with Thunder Valley Casino Resort surveillance in protecting the assets of the company.
15. Maintain a thorough understanding of company emergency action procedures.

16. Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the operations, controls, and procedures involved in surveillance activities.
17. Observe the precepts of truth, accuracy, and prudence, while preventing personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to interfere or influence judgments.

18. Be completely familiar with gaming regulations, the company’s Internal Control Systems, departmental policies and procedures; maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws.
19. Maintain knowledge of all casino games and understand all relevant aspects of each game such as dealing procedures, counting strategies and methods of cheating.
20. Maintain current information on known cheaters, advantage players, scams, and illegal methods of gaming.
21. Attend court hearings and other legal meetings as a witness for Thunder Valley Casino Resort, gaming regulatory agencies, or law enforcement agencies when appropriate.

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Five (5) years of casino surveillance experience.
3. Two (2) years of casino dealing experience with working knowledge of all class three III games with ability to maintain working knowledge of all table games available on property.
4. Two (2) years of experience training in a classroom setting is preferred.
5. Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of table games policy and procedures, and be able to explain the purpose of each policy and procedure.

6. Must have excellent facilitation skills, and the ability to utilize various training techniques. Seamlessly adjust the training program/curriculum when necessary, which at times is tailored to the specific team member’s skills and/or learning curve.
7. Must strive for excellence, boasting a high level of energy and a passion to energize and motivate others.
8. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
9. Must have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
10. Must possess a strong attention to detail, with an emphases on observation skills, math skills, and report writing.

11. Must be professional and skillfully investigative with the ability to be anonymous and maintain a very low profile.
12. Must be reliable, trustworthy, and honest.
13. Ability to react quickly and accurately under demanding, high stress conditions.
14. Ability to operate all surveillance CCTV and related equipment.
15. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and management in both written and verbal form.
16. Be able to work constantly changing schedules to adjust to fluctuating business demands and work any shift, including holidays, with fluctuating days off as needed.
17. Must be at least 21 years of age.

18. Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.
