Job description
We are seeking a Senior Power Plant Consulting Engineer who will independently evaluate select and apply standard engineering techniques procedures and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. This candidate should have developmental experience in a similar role or equivalent graduatelevel education.
This role will be based in our Bryan TX office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects with a team of Electrical Engineers working on power plant systems while mentoring and directing junior engineers.
- Interact with clients and take a leadership role within the projects.
- Be involved with project site evaluations preparing engineering scope documents and writing technical equipment specifications as needed.
- Develop relay settings for Generation Systems using microprocessors and electromechanical relays.
- Develop relay settings for generator protection schemes such as generator and stepup transformer differential and other protection elements such as loss of field positive and negative sequence overcurrent etc.
- Perform Arc Flash studies for high and medium voltage systems in ETAP software.
- Perform proper evaluation of NERC PRC002 PRC005 PRC019 PRC024 PRC025 PRC027 standards for transmission and generation systems.
- Perform short circuit studies using ASPEN/CAPE/ETAP.
- Perform fault analysis of fault records.
- Review project schedules and work with project engineer to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Properly use the document management system.
- Apply corporate standard engineering practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Minimum of 5 years' related work experience in developing settings for generation systems.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or closely with others.
- Very strong computer and business software skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organization skills to prioritize projects.
- Experience with power plant medium voltage designing MCC control centers motor installation etc.
- Experience with Arc Flash development in power plant environment.
- Experience with power plant protection and control design.
- Experience with protective relay applications and industry practices.
- Experience with developing relay settings for SEL GE ABB electromechanical relays etc.
- Experience with ETAP software packages.
- Experience in developing calculations and reports for NERC PRC025 PRC019 PRC024 PRC026.
- Committed to quality improvement and SynchroGrid values.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
