Job Summary:
We're seeking to fill a position for a part-time maintenance technician position to help keep our San Luis Obispo headquarters in excellent working order and help with building repairs / fixes as they come up. Hours are generally flexible, but when working on projects with others you'll be expected to communicate with coworkers to schedule your time appropriately. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance, repairs, and installations for our facilities and properties.
What you'd be doing:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fixing leaks, repairing broken fixtures, and replacing light bulbs.
- Conduct minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs as needed.
- Install and assemble furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and determine the best course of action for repair.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Respond to emergency repair requests promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order and report any issues to the property manager.
You will be great at this position if you:
- Are a self-starter; can notice and address issues without being told.
- Are creative and resourceful when it comes to finding solutions and fixing problems.
- Have good judgment as to when to call in external services or whether something can be fixed in house.
- Have a helpful attitude to be of assistance with all kinds of tasks in the office.
We'd like you to have:
- Proven experience as a handyman or similar role.
- Basic maintenance skills, including mechanical, drywall, painting, electrical, and plumbing
- Excellent knowledge of basic repair and maintenance techniques for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor tasks.
- Willingness to help with projects at our headquarters and other company properties.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; you'll be expected to communicate regularly with other team members via electronic means such as Slack and email.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work on a part-time basis.
