Enrichment Coach – AmeriCorps Member Serving at Lafayette Boys & Girls Clubs
Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana welcomes individuals to serve as an Enrichment Coach – AmeriCorps Member!
AmeriCorps Members are positioned at Granberry Club and Jackie Club in Lafayette, LA.

Summary: The Enrichment Coach – AmeriCorps Member supports youth by providing homework help, high-yield learning activities, and coaching to reinforce and enhance the skills & knowledge youth learn at school. This AmeriCorps Member assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating activities within the Power-Hour/Project Learn program. Additionally, Corps members assists with educational programming in the areas of Health and Wellness, Character & Leadership, Sports & Recreation, Arts, and Education. With a focus on providing fun, safe, and educational programing daily, AmeriCorps members serve as positive role models, mentors, and leaders in the Club.
About AmeriCorps: AmeriCorps is a national service organization where people from different backgrounds come together to address communities’ most pressing needs. Teams of trained individuals, called AmeriCorps Members, are positioned at our Clubs during our Summer & After-school programs to improve the lives of youth and strengthen communities. AmeriCorps Members help youth to develop healthy habits, achieve academic success, and explore learning in Art, STEM, & more! Additionally, Corps members participate in intensive pre-service & ongoing trainings, team-development activities, and service projects outside of the Club.
BGCA AmeriCorps is supported by a grant from the Volunteer Louisiana Commission in the Office of Lieutenant Governor.
Term of Service: August 2024 – May 2025
- Dates dependent upon school calendar
- Availability: 2:30pm – 7:00pm M-F, occasional weekends for service projects
- Hours: Must serve approximately 18-25 hours/week for 675-hour commitments OR 10-12 hours/week for 300-hour commitments *service options vary by Club location
Commitment
- Must fulfill a service commitment of 9 months
- Attend all mandatory AmeriCorps activities followed by Club-specific meetings/trainings at discretion of Club Director
- Attend at least 2 service projects

- Maturity and good judgement in relating to youth, peers, and community Primary Responsibilities of AmeriCorps
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan & facilitate Power-Hour/Project Learn programming in areas of Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership, Fitness & Recreation, Arts, Education, & Career Development.
- Collaborate with BGCA staff to facilitate daily activities for small groups (5-10 kids), regular groups (20-30 kids), and large groups (40+ kids)
- Facilitate academic coaching sessions for members
- Engage youth as leaders to help plan and/or lead event elements
- Utilize 5 elements of positive youth development to establish a positive learning environment
- Assist with documenting and reporting disciplinary actions/incidents in the program
- Collect & submit program intervention data for grant reporting purposes when necessary.
- Participate in and/or lead AmeriCorps meetings & service project(s) with local corps members
- Attend mandatory Club-staff meetings/trainings and AmeriCorps activities (service projects, monthly meetings, trainings, and team development activities)
Secondary Responsibilities
- Supporting, creating and/or co-leading events or programs that recognize and appreciate significant growth and achievement in Club members
- Attending Club outreach events at schools, fairs, etc.
- Engaging with corporate and community partners
Benefits of Service:
- Total Living allowance of up to *$6,075 (before taxes), divided into equal pay periods

Eligibility Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
- Experience working with youth and/or desire to learn
- Agree to and pass a criminal background check
