This is a part-time limited appointment for eleven months. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department.
UC San Diego Library's Digital Experience (DX) team collaborates across UC San Diego to improve the Library's holistic digital experience for all learners, researchers, and Library staff. We engage with diverse campus communities in order to create inclusive, accessible, and empowering digital experiences. Our work spans a range of digital platforms, including the Library public website, UC Library Search, the LibApps suite, and technology in Library physical spaces and environments.
The Digital Experience team is a unit within the Library Technology and Digital Experience (TDX) program. TDX develops, implements, and supports sustainable, high quality technology services and provides technical systems and solutions in support of all UC San Diego Library Programs and their associated strategic imperatives. To facilitate communication and coordination, the Technology and Digital Experience Service program aligns its service offerings with associated Library programs and provides technical and project management expertise as needed to support the objectives of those programs.
The Digital Experience team at UC San Diego Library is seeking a highly skilled Content Strategist to lead the development of our Library's Digital Experience Content Strategy. In this role, you will take an inclusive and engaged approach to creating a highly user-centered content strategy for the Library's public websites and digital platforms. In developing our digital content strategy, this position will conduct content audits, leverage website usage data and analytics, design structured content types, develop web content, improve the accessibility of our online environments, and integrate the Library's content strategy with our design system.
Successful candidates will have a keen interest and/or experience in creating infrastructure and workflows to help organizations craft extraordinary content for diverse communities of learners and researchers.

Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
Knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility as related to communication strategies with diverse audiences. Ability to apply these concepts to content strategy development.
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
Skill to conduct content audits and align content with an organizational mission and vision.
Knowledge and understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ability to apply these guidelines in the development of structured content.
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Skill to collaborate effectively with a team of designers and content creators. Skills and knowledge to simplify and consolidate complex content to make it more accessible to diverse communities of learners and researchers.
Ability to translate complex services, information resources, and internal organizational structures into comprehensible collections of content.
Knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and ability to leverage data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of content and make recommendations for improvement.
Ability to develop structured content types based on organizational needs and best practices.
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
