Job description

The Garrett Group is seeking a Global Economics Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a Bachelors degree in economics, finance, business administration, or an equivalent field, with coursework covering macro and microeconomics, as well as international finance. Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in economics, preferably within both public and private sectors. Experience in economic education, Combatant Command/MAJCOM, or non-DoD federal/state government agencies such as the Department of the Treasury, Department of State, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, etc., is highly desirable.

The responsibilities of this role include conducting analysis and providing advice on methodologies to assess the impact of operations, risk analysis, actions, and activities on the global environment, utilizing various intelligence sources. The SME is expected to deliver general, campaign, mission-area focused, and strategic assessments by identifying, collecting, and reviewing relevant data, and producing reports and briefings that align with analysis efforts and assessment results.

Furthermore, the SME will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and providing economic support for global economic analysis, facilitating activities and participation within operational planning working groups. They will need to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and capability gaps, contributing to the progression/regression of campaign objectives.

Additionally, SME will participate in and articulate equities in Assessment Cell communities of interest (COI) and HQ boards, supporting Joint Staff and OSD Strategic Assessment requirements. They will provide operational support during Command Exercises, offering analysis, perspective, and assessments on behalf of US Strategic Command.

The SME will utilize qualitative and quantitative techniques, SharePoint, and visualization tools for intense data collection and in-depth analysis. Building relationships across the Command, Combatant Commands, Services, and other government agencies to support information gathering and coordination for strategic assessment efforts is crucial.

Finally, the SME will develop information papers, reports, and briefings, ensuring alignment with ongoing assessment/analysis efforts and resolving conflicts as needed.
