Position Summary:
The Controller is a member of the Corporate Finance Division and reports to the Finance Director. This position would be the Manager of Consolidated Financial Reporting. The person in this position will be responsible for the oversight of general accounting, payables, annual business plan development and analysis, and monthly financial reporting. The position will also manage a team of employee owners within the Finance Division.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the accurate and timely creation of monthly and annual financial statements and utilization Works with staff and Finance Director to continually improve processes and develop maximum value in both the delivery and analysis of financial reports.
- Oversees the preparation of detailed journal entries for the financials, ensuring all financial information is accurate, analyzed and Manages the investigation of issues and identifies resolutions.
- Manages the timely preparation of monthly forecasts and results in accordance with the established format; analyzes those financial results and provides observations to the Finance Evaluates and may re-design the established format for this financial data as appropriate.
- Directs and assists with the development of the annual financial business plan interacting with senior management to discuss analysis of the plan and recommendations for strengthening the

- Ensures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Resolves questions of GAAP and internal controls with the Finance Director and works closely with our external auditors.
- Maintains all official accounting records in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting
- Participates in the hiring, training, educational and professional development and management of all unit staff. Provides coaching to unit staff relative to performance and assists with or provides oversight relative to regulatory requirements including state licensing, registrations, and creation of government overhead procurement rates.

- Conducts performance reviews; recommends compensation and bonuses for unit division staff.
- Develops and obtains approval from the Finance Director on all actions relating to staff spot bonus programs, promotions, transfers, disciplinary measures, and terminations. Manages the corrective action process for those employees needing to improve performance.
- Manages the staff relative to timesheet/expense approval; overtime authorization and approval; vacation/sick leave approval; and interpretation of policies and procedures. Interprets and applies all company human resources policies and procedures ensuring consistency of application.
- Participates in developing a culture of discipline in the unit where the meeting of goals and deadlines is required not only with clients but with others throughout the company. Meets all administrative requirements and requests established by the firm on the dates specified (e.g., timesheet submission, invoice preparation and submission, salary/bonus recommendations, report submission and other corporate directives, etc.)

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA strongly preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in private sector accounting, public accounting or a combination of both with an increasing level of managerial responsibilities. Hands on, seasoned experience with multi-faceted enterprise wide automated systems. Experienced managing a team of employees.
Travel Expectations:
Must be able to travel on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting the outlying locations, attending seminars or business meetings. Anticipated travel is 10-20% of the time.
