POSITION: Copywriter
HOURS: M-F, 9 am-6 pm local time
LOCATION: Remote
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate based on experience; Salary negotiable
Guru seeks an experienced advertising and marketing copywriter (5+ years in an agency setting) to join our full-time staff. This position will work in close partnership with Guru’s creative director, art directors, designers, and client team to generate creative solutions across channels for brands who are impacting the world in the most conscious ways. This person must be experienced with both creative concepting and copywriting for web/digital media and print/traditional channels), short-form and long-form content.
Agency experience is also a requirement, as is working within a copy/visual creative team.
Location: We welcome your remote (but U.S.-based) location, as we are a virtual team with employees across the United States and hubs in California and Burlington, VT.
The priorities for this role include:
- Receiving, reviewing and researching a creative brief and discussing its strategy and objectives with a team.
- Conceptual thinking (alone and in partnership with an AD or designer), as well as polishing, presenting, and articulating concepts outside of copywriting execution.
- Polished and inspiring copywriting across all channels, with skill at communicating with and convincing consumers.
- Speaking up with a point of view while reviewing art direction and design with an attitude of joint ownership for the final product.
- Presenting to both internal teams and clients.
- Understanding the importance of representing our clients’ brands in the work.
- Researching your ideas and your copy to ensure that all the content being advertised is truthful, accurate and complies with codes of advertising practice.
- Quickly researching and inhabiting the mind set of new audiences, to assure effective communications.
- Being expert in the art and science of advertising and communications - with the intent of moving specific target audiences.
- Handling feedback professionally and tending to copy editing and revisions in a timely way.
- Pushing for the most well crafted and effective final executions.

- Proven track record with a compelling portfolio of diverse work.
- Excellent presentation skills.
