Job description
National contract manufacturing organization is looking for an experienced
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER for their location near Asheville, NC.
They are looking for someone with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication processes, tooling design and leading projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of sheet metal tooling, including dies, jigs, and fixtures, using CAD software, programming turrets, press brakes & lasers.
- Ensure tooling and process designs meet engineering specifications, production requirements, and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and production teams to create innovative and effective tooling & process solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve sheet metal manufacturing processes through continuous analysis and evaluation.
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source fabrication components and materials.
- Collaborate with quality teams to address any tooling-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise and support during design reviews, production launches, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Attend/participate in workshops, seminars, etc., or research to maintain knowledge of “state-of-the-art” developments in assigned functional area. Exceed goals that directly impact the overall performance metrics of the entire plant.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in tooling design and manufacturing within the sheet metal industry
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling design and development
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal forming processes, stamping, punching, bending, and welding techniques.
