Producer Reporter Engagement Journalism
Vermont Public is seeking a producer/reporter to support Brave Little State , Vermont Public’s award-winning, people-powered journalism project. This person will also deepen Vermont Public’s rural reporting bench, regularly providing coverage for the Northeast Kingdom/Upper Valley. If you are passionate about sound, story and public service journalism, then this is the job for you.
This producer/reporter will work with the Senior Producer & Managing Editor, Associate Producer and Intern of Brave Little State, and a rotation of Vermont Public reporters, to produce sound-rich content for podcast and broadcast. They will also work with news editors to support reporting efforts in the Northeast Kingdom or Upper Valley regions of Vermont. Experience Desired:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, 5+ years of production experience. Creativity, sensitivity and humor — as a colleague, as a representative of Vermont Public and as the architect of compelling, listener-driven projects. Demonstrated excellence in writing for the ear, the web and social media, tailoring voice and tone as appropriate. Strong news and story judgment, and ability to report news and feature stories. Demonstrated excellence in audio editing, including proficiency with multi-track editors (Audition, Reaper or similar). Strong organizational skills, and ability to juggle multiple projects & deadlines simultaneously. Working knowledge of HTML and web-based content creation platforms. Working knowledge of social insights tools and metrics. Technologically versatile with willingness to expand skills.
