Prepares medication for dispensing a. Accurately prepares medication for dispensing. b. Receives prescriptions at drop off window. Collects proper patient information including date of birth, drug allergies, health insurance information address and phone number. c. Accurately enters insurance information. d. Fills incoming prescriptions and prepares labels. e. Accurately retrieves medications by verifying the NDC #. f. Screens phone calls and visitors to minimize pharmacist interruptions. g. Restocks supplies daily. 2. Operates the Point-of-Sale System . Updates POS system with A/R account information. a. Updates POS systems with new drugs. b. Completes sales transactions for customers using two identifiers for verification. 3. Actively participates in quality improvements of the department. . Records daily temperatures of refrigerator containing medications. a. Removes outdated medication from stock. 4. Assists in maintaining proper inventory. . Complete daily/weekly audits of managed inventory product. a. Accurately stickers products and puts away order from distributor and confirms accuracy of daily order against invoice. b. Completes returns. 5. Provides administrative support according to organizational customer service standards. . Greets and assists all who enter the department a. Answers telephone, per hospital customer service standard b. Takes messages and relays information to appropriate personnel c. Files, faxes, scans and photocopies material as required d. Maintains work area in a professional and organized manner 6. Assists in maintenance of pharmacy records and regulatory compliance. . Records daily transactions and number of prescriptions. a. Process daily invoices and bank deposits. 7. Participates in discharge medication program. . Communicates with Care Managers. a. Retrieves prescriptions from patient care areas. b. Delivers prescriptions to bedside. Qualifications Experience Minimum Required • At least one year in retail pharmacy Experience Preferred/Desired • Over one year in pharmacy Education Minimum Required • HS Diploma Education Preferred/Desired • Pharmacy Technician program Licensure and/or Certifications Required • National Pharmacy Technician Certification from PTCB within 90 days of hire. • NH Pharmacy Technician Registration required at time of hire.
