Job description
The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and support to Safran Cabin's legal department, business divisions and affiliates. Duties include creating transactional documents, interpreting existing agreements, and advising on legal and corporate matters for multiple, domestic and international legal entities, as well as providing legal support for functional assignments. This position reports directly to a Legal Director or the General Counsel of Safran Cabin.
The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and support to Safran Cabin's legal department, business divisions and affiliates. Duties include creating transactional documents, interpreting existing agreements, and advising on legal and corporate matters for multiple, domestic and international legal entities, as well as providing legal support for functional assignments. This position reports directly to a Legal Director or the General Counsel of Safran Cabin.
1. Collaborates with legal department members, and, if so assigned, specifically provides support to the supervising Legal Director.
2. Conducts legal research, renders legal advice to, and liaises with management, operations, finance, human resources, program management, contracts, intellectual property, marketing/sales, engineering, product support, supply chain, planning, certification, export compliance, insurance, trade compliance, data privacy, and quality departments. 3. Works closely with other departments in the creation of new contracts: o Drafts and reviews contractual and pre-contractual documents and amendments, including without limitation non-disclosure agreements, sales agreements, responses to requests for information/requests for proposal, FAR/DFAR terms, letters of agreement, memoranda of understanding, settlement agreements, product support agreements, services agreements, licensing agreements, facility leases, supply chain agreements, purchase order / invoice terms and conditions, consultant agreements, merger agreements, asset purchase agreements, and joint venture agreements. 4. Interprets existing contracts: Supports program management, contracts, sales and supply chain department personnel on questions related to contract and purchase order review and processing. 5. Handles disputes and litigation management, advises management and program teams on contractual rights and obligations. 6. Performs all other duties as assigned.1. Education: J.D. degree, active license to practice law in the relevant location
Experience: 3+ years of experience within a legal department; experience for a commercial aerospace company or equivalent industry is a plus
Computer Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
