GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is committed to providing a safe and effective transportation system for the State of Wyoming. This position will coordinate with WYDOT's Employee Safety Program to ensure district employees are trained and adhering to WYDOT's safety-related policies and procedures and state and federal safety requirements. We seek an OSHA Specialist to ensure a safe working environment for all WYDOT employees through training, certifying, and instructing formal and informal training classes. This position will be located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Rock Springs is the 5th largest city in Wyoming and is known for outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, hiking, golfing, and activities at the nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The city celebrates “International Day” each summer with a festival where the town's ancestors' foods, costumes, and traditions are recreated. Rock Springs is home to Western Wyoming Community College and Wyoming’s Big Show Carnival. All this while enjoying no state income tax!

OSHA 10.
Preference may be given to those with 30 Hours Instructor certification.
Preference may be given to those with First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult, Child, Infant) certification.
Preference may be given to those with Hazardous Materials Specialist certification.
Preference may be given to those with knowledge of report writing.
Preference may be given to those with knowledge of the federal and state rules, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures regarding safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Temporary employees accepting a full-time position.
Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.
One year of service to WYDOT must be completed, failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive, and funds will be recouped from final pay.
Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
