Canyon Pet Hospital is currently see king an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join ou r team in Beaverton, OR! We are growing and so have our staffing needs. We are looking for a self-starter who wants to be a part of our new journey as we begi n anew.
In this position your primary role will be supporting our doctors by assisting with procedures and services and establishing a rapport with our clients and patients. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for FUN, LEARNING, RESPECT, WOW SERVICE and DO THE RIGHT THING .
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Assist the doctor in surgical and dental procedures, administer required pre-surgical medication and prepare pets for surgery, and monitor vital signs of pets during surgery and recovery
Prepare patient, medications, and equipment for surgery or sedative procedures
Perform dental prophylaxis, venipunctures, catheterization, and other procedures
Administer injections, vaccinations, medications, and anesthesia under minimal supervision with the direction of a Veterinaria n
Perform X-rays, EKG, and Ultrasound and provide results to the Veterinarian
Perform drug dosage calculations and fill prescriptions under the direction of a Veterinarian
Perform laboratory tests on samples and update the patient’s medical chart
Obtain and prepare various samples including blood, urine, and fecal samples for diagnostic testing.
Provide compassionate, professional, efficient, quality medical care and exceptional service to clients while having fun and learning.
Obtain patient medical history from the client, observe pet’s behavior, collect patient vitals, and restrain pets during exams as needed.
Create and maintain patient medical records and documentation
Educate clients about pet health needs, nutrition, and preventative care
Support a practice environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork
This position is ideal for someone who likes to be busy and has a variety of duties and responsibilities. This position requires adaptability, innovative thinking, and interpersonal skills to be successful in a team environment.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Associate’s Degree from a two-year veterinary technology program with accreditation from the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA).
Professional Licenses/Certifications:
State-recognized veterinary technician certification (CVT, LVT, or RVT) with credential in good standing
Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience as a technician in a veterinary practice
